When we started the the long process of the design of the restaurant, it always came back to one thing, it was all about us, as a family. Lou, myself and our girls, Georgia, Angharad and Elin.

Deciding upon a name, we struggled, we just could not come up with a name that fitted what we were trying to achieve. We knew however we wanted to show people us, and the love we have for one another. Out of the blue, Lou said the only thing that comes to mind when you think of love and family is “Home”, that’s where it began. The collins definition of a spiritual home starts with, “Your spiritual home is the place where you feel that you belong”. And this is certainly where we belong as a family.

The team is very small, dedicated and very family driven, there’s myself and Georgia in the kitchen, Lou doing all the admin and Angharad and Lou’s sister, Cath front of house, along with Elouan.

We want our guests to feel comfortable and relaxed as soon as they walk through the door, even in our Michelin Star restaurant. We have had a lot of people pass comment about the mystery of the inside, this is intentional. We want people to wonder what lies behind the curtains and we also want our guests to feel safe, relaxed and at home when they enter. We want you to feel like you can leave all your troubles at the front door and escape for a few hours, let us look after you.
I want you to feel relaxed enough that you kick your shoes off under the table, enjoy lovingly made food, a glass of very special wine along with fantastic company that you have brought along with you.

The Heart

This icon has many meanings behind it. The heart in the centre symbolises the heart of a family and home is love and belonging. The rings around the heart are like the rings of the inside of a tree displaying its growth. The heart is the centre of any family/home/story, that reaches new heights and matures over time, like an impressive tree.

The Soul

I have loved cooking from a really young age, it’s all I can ever really remember wanting to do and can’t imagine doing anything else. Georgia has that same burning passion, being by my side as an equal in the kitchen. With Angharad, tactfully looking after your every need in the dining room, this truly is a dream come true and means the world to me.

Being local truly does feed the soul of our kitchen. We passionately use as many local suppliers, where possible. From the forests of Monmouth, to the idyllic coasts of West Wales or the victorian arcades of Cardiff. Our butchers, fishmongers, fruit & vegetable, wine and soap suppliers, they all help us build the foundation of our kitchen . The passion for their produce inspires us to bring something bespoke & seasonal, every week to our surprise menus.

And of course, all the help and support from behind the scenes, working so closely with our media/website team and photographers. It couldn’t happen without others who are as passionate as us, as they are about their own craft.
